It's a small update on paper, but for one specific group of users it's the difference between a phone that randomly reboots and one that doesn't.

What iOS 27.0.1 Actually Fixes

Who This Update Is Really For
If you own an iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max and you've seen your phone restart on its own, or Face ID intermittently fail before a reboot — this is your update, install it today. Apple identified the fix specifically for those devices.
If you're on an older supported iPhone (iOS 27.0.1 covers iPhone 11 and later), the update is still worth taking eventually, but there's no urgency. The fixes target problems you likely never had. The honest framing: this is the "first hotfix" of the iOS 27 era, the kind of update that exists to smooth out early bugs rather than change anything you'd notice.
Should You Install It Now or Wait?
My general rule for x.0.1 updates on modern iPhones: if you're affected, update immediately; if you're not, give it a day or two. The x.0.1 is historically the most conservative release Apple ships — it exists because something in x.0 was visibly broken, and the delta is tiny, which means the update itself carries very little new-code risk.

How to Get It
Settings → General → Software Update. The update is roughly 1.2 GB over the air (sizes vary slightly by device). If the update doesn't appear immediately, give it a few hours — Apple rolls releases out progressively.
