Instead, the factory Indian Challenger team of Hayden Gillim and Troy Herfoss controlled the entire weekend. Gillim took pole position in qualifying, Herfoss won the $5,000 Baggers Challenge sprint, and Gillim won both championship races — the second one a dramatic charge from sixth place after a poor start.
Baggers Challenge — Herfoss Takes the $5,000 Sprint
Before the championship races, riders lined up for a two-lap, winner-takes-all Baggers Challenge sprint for $5,000 courtesy of series sponsor Mission Foods. Australian Troy Herfoss took the win ahead of defending champion Kyle Wyman (Harley-Davidson) and his own Indian teammate Gillim in third.
James Rispoli (Harley-Davidson) finished fourth with Tyler O'Hara (SDI Racing) rounding out the top five. The sprint gave Herfoss early confidence heading into Race 1 — but the main event would not go nearly as smoothly for the Harley-Davidson squad.

Race 1 Results — Red Flags, Crashes, and a 5-Lap Sprint
Saturday's Race 1 was chaotic. Kyle Wyman jumped out to the early lead on his factory Harley-Davidson Road Glide, with Herfoss and Gillim in tow. But just two laps in, while leading the race, Wyman's bike swapped into a violent tank-slapper exiting Turn 13. He went down, bringing out the red flag.
The misfortune for Harley-Davidson didn't end there. On the ensuing sighting lap before the restart, Wyman's teammate Bradley Smith also crashed his factory Road Glide, requiring a second red flag stoppage to clear oil from the track and repair the airfence. Both factory Harley riders were done for Race 1 — double DNF.
After a lengthy delay, Bagger riders returned to the grid for a third time — now for a shortened 5-lap sprint race. Herfoss jumped out to the early lead, but Gillim made quick work of his Indian stablemate and the two broke away into their own race.
Behind them, a three-way battle developed for the final podium spot between James Rispoli (Harley-Davidson), Rocco Landers (Indian), and Tyler O'Hara (Indian). Sunday's race was the thriller of the weekend. Gillim started from pole but got a poor launch and dropped to sixth on the opening lap. Herfoss jumped to the early lead, with Wyman and Smith slotting into second and third — Harley's chance to salvage the weekend.
It didn't last. By lap three of the nine-lap contest, Gillim had worked his way past Rispoli and O'Hara to sit just behind Smith in third. He then charged past both Harley-Davidson riders to close in on leader Herfoss with four laps to go.
The Aussie tried to hold off the Kentucky native at his home track, but Gillim's charge could not be denied. He took the lead at Turn 1 with three laps remaining and held on to the finish, winning by 0.25 seconds over Herfoss.
